SMBEA Unity Gala 2024
On November 8, 2024, the Santa Monica Black Empowerment Association (SMBEA) will host its 2nd Annual Unity Gala at the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club, celebrating Black history, excellence, and community impact. A key highlight of the evening will be the presentation of the Dr. Alfred Quinn Award, named in honor of the legacy preserved by the Quinn Research Center (QRC).
This year’s recipient, NBA legend Norm Nixon, will be recognized for his contributions both on and off the court, inspiring young athletes and advocating for diversity, inclusion, and community service. The Santa Monica Rotary Club will also be honored as the Community Ally Organization for its dedication to fostering equity and supporting meaningful initiatives.
The Quinn Research Center and Director Carolyne Edwards will be in attendance, further emphasizing the importance of preserving Black history and the power of collaboration in shaping a more just and inclusive future.
The Unity Gala will be a night of inspiration, connection, and recognition—highlighting the impact that can be made when organizations and individuals come together in support of a shared mission.
